Restless Wanderer

Listen Here: Do I Love You First

So often we can read the same Bible passage and it can speak uniquely to us right where we are in our lives.

Reading Genesis 4:6 brought tears to my eyes when I read how Cain killed Abel out of his anger. He even lied to God and this made me so sad.

These verses spoke to me. “Cain why are you angry? Why has your face fallen? If you do what is right will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is for you, but you must rule over it.”  Genesis 4:6

Genesis 4:12-13 “My punishment is greater than I can I bear…I shall be a fugitive and wanderer on the earth.”

It’s interesting to see that Cain was afraid about being cast out of God’s presence.  God wants all His children to stay close to Him and in His fellowship and presence.

Lord: I pray I stay living in your presence and not become a restless wanderer far away from you. I pray that when I feel angry I immediately ask you to help me do what is right. When sin starts to control me I pray I cry out to You to help me master my sin so I don’t hurt others or myself.  Help me to love you first.  Amen.

New Track – Psalm 23

Listen to my New Track – Psalm 23

While sitting at the piano and reading Psalm 23 I wrote this melody. I’m so thankful I have all I need in Him.

“The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.”

Psalm 23:1

I love this promise that “goodness will follow me all the days of my life.

“He restores my soul…”

Psalm 23:3

I will not fear evil for He is always with me and comforts me

Psalm 23:4

He’s the fulfiller of my soul, the greatest gift of all. At times we can covet want what others have. But things of this world cannot restore our soul.

“Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,  And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”

Psalm 23:6

I’m so grateful He is all I need. He is my life and peace now and forever!

We’re the Messengers (Michele Wagner)

Listen Here!

Verse 1:

We are life in a dying world

God reaches through us for the lost boy and girl

We are His strength when the world tumbles down

We are a hope to be found

If you knew there were people who died in the streets

Without ever knowing the comfort of peace

Would you go to the ends of the earth this day

To reach the soul God wanted to save!!!

Chorus:

We’re the Messengers of God above

With the message of   redeeming love

Spread the message of the One True Living God

Verse 2:

Do you see the man reaching to find his home?

He’s drowning in emptiness in a heart alone

Is there someone who’ll reach out to grab his hand?

Tell him that there’s a promised land!!!!

Chorus:

Bridge

We a are the light for the dying and lost

Give your comfort isn’t worth the cost

To give up your life so another can live

Give a chance for life to begin

Don’t hold Him in

Chorus

Be a Messenger of God above

With the message of redeeming love

Spread the message of the One True Living God

I Love You – Rough Cut

October 7th, 2011 | By admin

This morning I found a lyric and rough recording of a new song I wrote called “I Love You”.Reading the lyric with the rough demo helped me see how yesterday I was choosing to only look at my mess and react to feelings instead of choosing to look at God’s truth.

Listen to His Truth Not Lies!

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

Philippians 4:4-8

See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no ”root of bitterness” springs up and causes trouble, and by it many become defiled;”

Hebrews 12:15

But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the LORD,because he has dealt bountifully with me.”

Psalm 13:5-6

This morning I found a lyric and rough recording of a new song I wrote called “I Love You”.  Reading the lyric with the rough demo helped me see why I got upset yesterday.

This weekend was very busy as I entertained a friend from out of town Friday and the next day I was very surprised by my own surprise birthday party.  The following day, I had to get up at 6:30am to arrive at church to prepare to sing for three choir services.

After church I was tired and hungry. Time to clean and prepare the house for our big party we had planned for our friend Jason who finished our basement.  He came over with his three young boys his wife and in laws and parents. We were looking forward to this thank you party with lots of fun and celebration.

Conflict came when my husband asked me to find the slow cooker in pantry to serve the chili. The pantry was so cluttered that I had to take everything out to find it.  My husband was frustrated, and then I reacted with anger and untruthful accusing words.  I blamed him for buying so many chips and having so much “stuff”.

After tears I realized I had a problem for blaming him and I needed to examine my own heart and forgive him.  I was hurt, so I hurt back.

“ Why look at the speck of dust in your brothers eye and pay no attention to the log in your own eye?”

Mathew 7:3-5

“Don’t Let the sun go down on your anger.” Ephesians 4:26

“See that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” Hebrews 12:15

I was physically and emotionally exhausted and I didn’t have the Lord’s truth and armor on. Ephesians 6:11-13 says  “Put on the full amour of God that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” I was an open prey to being attacked!

I felt pressured to be perfect and listened to a lie.  While I felt I was not good enough the truth of God says that we are  “fearfully and wonderfully made loved more than the grains of sand”. (Psalm 139:17-18)

We are chosen by the Lord to be His treasured possession.  I was choosing to only look at my mess and react to feelings instead of choosing to look at God’s truth.

I hurt with my words and needed to forgive myself and ask to be forgiven.  The truth is that that God is near to us, the broken hearted, and wants to give us strength to accomplish all things through Him.

We must intentionally keep His word and truth near to our mind and hearts and live daily in His truth and presence.  Isaiah 4:29 reminds us,“He gives strength to the weary.”   While James tells us, “confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed”.

This is the rough lyric and recording of the song that inspired this devotion. It’s titled “I Love You”

Additional Verses

“Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Romans 12:1-2

“Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.”

John 18:37

“Humble your self under the mighty hand of God that He might lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. Be self controlled and alert. You enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

I Peter 5:6-8

“Do not give the devil a foothold…….get rid of all bitterness, rage, and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.”

Ephesians 4:27 & 31

“Let no unwholesome word come out of your mouth bit only what is profitable for edification.”

Ephesians 4:22

“Let the peace of God guards your mind and heart in Christ Jesus. Think on whatever is Lovely and True. Let the peace of God guards your mind and heart in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-9

We’re the Messengers – Rough Track

September 15th, 2011 | By admin

God’s inspired me to write “We’re the Messengers.” After writing my post last week I decided to record a rough version of the song at home. This is a work in progress so please enjoy it for what it is.

We’re the Messengers

This passage in Acts reminds us that God does have compassion on his people and bring them back to Himself.

After this I will return,
and I will rebuild the tent of David that has fallen;
I will rebuild its ruins,
and I will restore it,
that the remnant of mankind may seek the Lord,
and all the Gentiles who are called by my name,
says the Lord, who makes these things known from of old.
Acts 15:16-18

God promises us that he rebuilds and restores the ruins of our broken lives.  God desires to heal the broken hearted!  By falling in love with Him and growing deeper in knowing our Lord Jesus Christ we can experience his restoration.

And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
John 17:3

I’m excited about starting the Missio Dei study at my church this fall.  The blurb on the back of the book says it well, “God wants to use us to share His love with others. He is working through His people to bring transformation into a fallen world.  He is seeking a people who will join Him in healing and brokenness in our lives, in our communities, and around the world.”

It’s inspried me to write a new song, “We’re the Messengers.”  Here’s some of the lyrics in the works. I hope to record and post it it soon.

We’re the Messengers of God above
With the Message of redeeming love
Spread the message of the One True Living God
Do you see the man reaching to find his home?
He’s drowing in emptiness in a heart alone
Is there someone who’ll reach out to grab his hand?
Tell him that there’s a promised land!

…….

We are the light for the dying and lost
Give up your comfort, isn’t worth the cost?

God is on a mission to renew all things and wants to use us to do just that.

Look to God

”Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines,Though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will REJOICE in the Lord. I will be joyful in God my Savior.”

Habakkuk 3:17

I remember my good friend telling me that when bad things happen to purposely say “Thank you Lord and praise Him through it all.  The study notes of the NIV Bible say  “When nothing makes sense and when troubles seem more than you can bear, remember this truth that God gives STRENGTH.  Take your eyes off your difficulties and LOOK to God.

When I sing the song “Jesus Answers” God gives me assurance to trust Him and look to Him with childlike faith.
